The animated ad above hit YouTube on April Fool’s Day 2013. It recently crested the 4m mark, continuing to assert that the OMEGA Co-Axial Chronometer is the “most perfect mechanical watch movement in the world.” Rolex may beg to differ. The two Swiss watchmakers remain locked in battle. Here’s how that’s playing out on YouTube . . .

My two cents: average punters don’t care about their luxury watch’s movement. It’s accuracy or reliability. They buy their expensive timepiece by look and feel and, especially, brand image.

While the latest OMEGA ad confirms that women are wearing “men’s watches,” and it’s good to know the producer has a thing for a cute derrière, this OMEGA ad is utterly bleh compared to its 2013 ancestor.

Compare that to this month’s Rolex YouTube ad. Oh wait. There isn’t one. What does that tell you?
