Hermes Slim d’HermesThis Is the Best Dress Watch You Can Buy Right Now gearpatrol.com proclaims under an admonition to JUST GET THIS. GP’s happy horolophiles tip the Hermes Slim d’Hermes as the number one choice for a dress watch. Hang on a minute there Slim . . .

Gear Patrolling must pay well; that particular timepiece runs a not inconsiderable $7,650. So when GP says the Slim D’Hermes is the best watch you can buy, I’m thinking a lot of “you’s” out there in the real world don’t have eight large lying around looking for something to do.

The only answer to this watch selection mystery: GP picked the watch they liked best. Oh wait. If you click through to buy a Slim D’Hermes from their website, you save $120! Which begs the question, how much does Gear Patrol make on that sale? Or even a simple click-through?

But since you’re already here, the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon in steel is the best dress watch you can buy. It’s so cool its video needs no narration. Unless you can’t afford it (the watch, not the narration). Or prefer something else.

UPDATE: The men’s Hermes Slim d’Hermes has been discontinued. You can should be able to find a NOS (New Old Stock) model or a pre-owned version for a significant discount.
